Farewell Transmission (2024 -)
Farewell Transmission: Journey 1 Archive Field Recording Station
Pastures & Multiverses / KVANTUM Festival
June 19–21, 2026
Pažite, Topoľčany, Slovakia
Farewell Transmission is an evolving multi-channel video installation and participatory archive that imagines communication across deep time, environmental change, and speculative futures. The project centers on Journey 1, a sculptural vessel containing a DNA-encoded tooth, created within the fiction of AutoIcon Laboratories and conceived as both an artifact and a carrier of human memory.
Drawing on Jeremy Bentham’s Auto-Icon and the Voyager Golden Record, the project asks what traces of 21st-century life might remain legible to an unknown future. The video component follows Journey 1 across three landscapes filmed as if they are the same place transformed over time: the Arctic Circle, Northern Ireland, and Death Valley.
For Pastures & Multiverses, the 2026 season and 5th edition of KVANTUM Festival, the project expands through a field recording station at Pažite, an interdisciplinary center in the meadows beneath Topoľčany Castle. Visitors will be invited to contribute short recordings reflecting on daily life in the 21st century and the ordinary details that shape human experience.
These recordings will become part of the Journey 1 Archive, a growing participatory record of human life imagined for an unknown future.
